Paul Coleman

Coach

Creative, supportive and honest

Hi! I’m Paul Coleman

As a creative entrepreneur and former trades person, I focus on helping you understand your strengths and help you turn those strengths into meaningful and fulfilling career goals.

My Story

30 years ago I started my career in Advanced manufacturing starting as a plastic injection mold designer. I spent many years working with international software development companies spearheading innovation in CAD/CAM automation and knowledge-based design.

One of my biggest joys is helping others learn skills and advance their careers. I’ve taught courses in Design, CAD/CAM, CNC and others. For over 27 years, I was fortunate to teach 1:1 and groups in a variety of settings.

As the father to four neurodivergent adults ( One who is autistic and 3 with ADHD (and some other neurodivergences), watching their struggles and helping them navigate their lives was like shining a spotlight on my own life. It was then I realized how hard I’ve worked masking my own neurodivergence. This knowledge has been lifechanging and I never want another person to struggle without support like I did.

Employment coaching may be new to me, but I have a lifetime of experience I can’t wait to share with anyone I can help.

My Values & Beliefs

Listening

You can’t learn without listening and that goes both ways. I listen and learn who you are and what drives you. You listen to what I might have to share as feedback or questions. Only then can appropriate goals and plans be set in motion.

Trust

People need to feel safe in order to work on evaluating themselves and their actions.

Building trust is critical in any relationship and is especially true for coaching. We’ll work together to build trust so that you are more likely to feel comfortable enough to ask questions and to be honest about your strengths and what challenges are causing problems.

Positive Pushes

As an employment coach, I maintain a positive, optimistic, and growth-oriented mindset. This helps us in setting goals and finding the inspiration and motivation you need to believe in your potential and push your boundaries.

Compassion

I genuinely strive to understand and share feelings, building trust and rapport. The goal is to create a judgment-free, safe space for you to explore your aspirations and fears. I’ve had my own struggles which helps me to be patient, understanding and empathetic.

Who do I partner with?

Spero Careers Canada has the knowledge and experience to coach and advise  a variety of groups. We each bring certain skill sets and lived experiences to the table. If run in to an area where another coach could be helpful, then we’re lucky to have a good talent pool to ask for help!

Individuals

Looking to change careers, go back to school or learn some tools to organize life? Let’s put our thinking together and help you identify an actionable plan to move forward in to the life you see for yourself.

Employers

We’ve been working with employes on improving EDI, expanding workforces and improving internal communication for over 5 years.

Agencies

You never know who could walk through the doors or what support they might need. There’s no way to cover everybody. That’s where we come in. We work with agencies to fill the skill gaps in supporting neurodivergent individuals.

Parents

As an instructor for 27 years and a parent in training of 4 neurodivergent individuals for 26 years, I bring lived experience and professional experience together to help solve whatever challenges might be getting in the way.

My Approach

My approach is grounded in a commitment to continuous learning and development. I aim to establish trust and rapport through active listening, creating a safe and judgment-free environment for you to express your needs, aspirations, and fears.

This allows you to uncover your full potential and overcome obstacles, enabling us to focus on your growth and success.

We have our very own Santa Claus!

Fun fact about me is that I am a Santa Claus. I play Santa Claus visiting different charity groups during the Christmas season. Making kids smile and seeing the joy on their faces is why I do it. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for many years and my dream finally came true last year. Looking forward to many seasons to come!
